Gulfport, just west of Biloxi, is the second major city on the Mississippi Gulf Coast and home to the Gulfport Biloxi International airport. Hit hard by Hurricane Katrina in 2005, Gulfport has been going through a concentrated rebuilding effort bringing it back to its pre-hurricane condition.
Gulfport's main family attractions are the Gulf Islands Water Park, an 18-acre water park with 15 nautical themed attractions including wild rides, slides and a wave pool; and Lynn Meadows Discovery Center which was selected as one top 50 children's museums in the US by Child Magazine.
Other notable attractions include the Great Southern Golf Club, Mississippi's oldest golf course overlooking the Gulf of Mexico, the 640-acre Harrison County Fairgrounds, the Harrison County Skate Park, Grand Casino Gulfport and the Island View Casino.
Gulfport accommodations range from luxuries resorts to budget-friendly motels. All area attractions are within 15 minutes of all Gulfport hotels and motels.
